We need a superb Senior Accountant who will work closely with the Manager or Team Leader in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of statutory accounts and corporate tax returns. 

As a Senior Accountant your duties and responsibilities include:

Assist in overseeing accounting and tax services for clients

  • Render technical reviews for quality control purposes of basic and complex tax jobs including its related work papers and reconciliation reports;
  • Ensure other compliance requirements applicable to the client’s scope (i.e. own entities and firm clients) are properly complied with in a timely manner (e.g. FBT, Annual PAYG Summary Report or periodic lodgment of super guarantee contributions);
  • Review, sign off and dispatch of various management reports, periodic reports and client customised reports as required;
  • Liaising directly with clients and practice principals regarding compliance issues and resolution of the same; and
  • Extending assistance in running the ATO lodgment program, including preparing deferral requests and administration of lodgment list.

Assist the Team leader or Manager in the overall development and performance management of team members and their outputs

  • Ensure that updates to job/client data per Xero Practice Manager are made regularly and they are reflected correctly;
  • Review staff time, job/client allocation, billable/non-billable hours and output per Xero Practice Manager and ensure that they are within the firm’s acceptable parameters;
  • Assist in technical coaching of Associate Accountants or junior team members;
  • Report progress and periodic assessment of the assigned client accounts or staff to the Team Leader; and
  • Prepare periodic staff evaluation of Associate Accountants or junior team members as assigned.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Accomplish daily timesheets;
  • Coordinates with Team leader and staff to properly delegate workload within the team;
  • Ensure that detailed process documents are available for all clients assigned and review is conducted periodically;
  • On per job level or project basis, identify and communicate issues and exceptions with Team leader or Associate Manager and other team members with corresponding recommendations/proposal for appropriate action plans to address the issues and prevent recurrence of errors, if any.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Accountancy or equivalent.
  • Has at least 2 years of related experience with Australian accounting and tax such as but not limited to: group tax compliance work, financial statements and income tax preparation, activity statements and bookkeeping.
  • CPA or a master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is a plus.
  • Experience in public accounting/audit firm (Big 4 firms preferred) will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of accounting software is an advantage, e.g. MYOB, QuickBooks, and XERO.
  • Extensive knowledge of local accounting and Australian accounting processes is a huge advantage.
  • Must be PC proficient, preferably with experience in using large automated accounting systems, including cloud accounting systems.
  • Keen attention to detail and deadline oriented.
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills are required.
  • Takes responsibility, is results-driven and resourceful, and has a strong sense of accountability.
  • Has solid verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management, experience working directly with senior leadership, and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Resilient, mature, and is able to deal with ambiguity.
  • Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment and ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Willing to be trained and can work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to be assigned to Subic, Clark, Tarlac, Bataan or Iba, Zambales.
